Dr. Dax Fadlan is one of the Othyrian doctors who attempts to heal Cyra’s currentgift. He explains that in some way, Cyra believes she is deserving of the pain. Amongst all the doctors Cyra and her mother visit together, this one stands out strongly as a memory, and during a hallucination at the end of the first book, when Cyra is torturing Akos against her will, it is in part thinking of Dr. Fadlan that helps her to gain some control over her gift.
